1) About ISS
This International Summer School program is held in School of Continuing Education of Capital Normal University, which became one of the partner universities of PEA (Pursue Education Alliance) International Summer School platform in 2019.
Our International Summer School is a credit bearing program which may be able to count towards your studies at your home university.
We offer you a unique study experience, providing an exciting list of course choices, social events, field trips and cultural activities.
We strive to help you on your journey to becoming a confident, reflective and independent student. We’ll help you to deepen your knowledge in your chosen areas of study and, at the same time, give you the opportunity to improve your academic skills and explore the old city of Beijing.
Every July this International Summer School offer you an intensive learning experience. Over 200 courses and seminars, and 200+ plenary and core lectures and sessions make up our open-access programs.

3. Application and Registration
Application Procedure
1.Register at Application. A notice will be sent to your email box.
2.Login and complete the on-line application, and submit after confirmation.
3.We will offer you assistance in how to get pre-approval for studying at our program from your home university.
4.Pay full tuition fees, and upload your payment proof.
5.International Summer School will authorize you to select course after receiving your payment proof in seven working days.
Pay Full Tuition and Fees
International Summer School requests all students to pay full tuition and fees by one month before the beginning of the program.
Course Registration
Courses can be selected through our online registration system after tuition and fees have been paid in full. Please remember to click “save” after completion.

5. Q&A
Application
Q:Who can apply for the International Summer School?
A:All full-time Chinese undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in overseas universities are welcome to apply for the program. We will assist and help applicants based on their conditions.
Q: What should I do if I have problem during application?
A:Please contact us at summer.school@cnu.edu.cn, and our staff will walk you through the process.
Q:Can I change/add/drop the courses?
A:Yes. Students can change/add/drop courses in the application system after paying full tuition fees, on condition that the courses are not fully enrolled. In case you change the number of courses you selected, which result in the change of tuition fees, please contact us at summer.school@cnu.edu.cn.
Courses
Q: When will the International Summer School start?
A: In 2021, our International Summer School will starts on July 5th and ends on August 6th.
Q: Where can I find detailed course information?
A:Students can contact summer.school@cnu.edu.cn to require syllabuses. Each course syllabus includes information of course description, textbook, course requirements and grading policy, etc.
Q: How many courses can I take at most?
A: In order to ensure the quality of learning, students are advised to select one to three courses for each session.
Q: How many students in each class?
A: The limitation of each class is 30 students, except that up to 25 students in English Writing and Public Speaking classes.
Q:Do I need to buy my own textbooks?
A:Textbooks are not provided and students are required to obtain their textbooks before the start of the classes. The textbooks can be purchased on Amazon and Course Smart, which are convenient and less expensive.
Q:When is the examination? What is the format?
A:Generally speaking, each course will have the mid-term and final exam, which will be arranged by the professors. The format of the exams may include close-book examination, papers or group presentation. Please refer to the course syllabus for details.
Q:How can I receive my transcript after the program?
A: The transcripts will be issued by School of Continuing Education of Capital Normal University. We will start to process and mail students’ transcripts right after the program. It usually takes four to six weeks for students to receive their transcripts. We will send the transcripts directly to your university, so please provide the right address and addressee. If you request additional transcripts, please contact us at summer.school@cnu.edu.cn. Students need to pay RMB 50 for each additional transcript and be responsible for the mailing cost occurred.
Service
Q: Will the International Summer School provide accommodations?
A: We will not provide students with accommodations, but we will provide you with some recommendations on hotels near the campus.
Q: Are there any meal options around the campus?
A: There are a variety of choices for students to eat around the campus to meet their tastes.
Q: Besides attending courses, what other activities are available?
A: Beijing is a big city, and we have prepared a huge variety of leisure activities for you to communicate with the professors and classmates, and build up your own social network. Besides, you can also arrange your own activities with classmates and friends, and to spend a wonderful summer.
Q: Can I access to campus facilities?
A: The playground and study rooms are free to use. Other sports facilities, such as tennis court and badminton need to pay extra fees.
